Illustrator Mastery Lesson: Create a Southpark Character in your likeness

Objective

The students will demonstrate their mastery of standard graphic design tools in Adobe Illustrator by creating a original work with 70% accuracy. The students will also demonstrate their ability to group and organize their work to maintain a clean and efficient work space. 

Method

In order to accomplish the objective, the student will use a source image to create a Southpark character in their own likeness using the tools they learned in the previous Hippo and Ninja assignments.  The students will create layers and groups compatible with Character Animator CC so that their new avatar can be animated in a future date.

Turn-In

Hard-Surface Modeling-Creating a Low-Poly Building

Objective:

Continue working on developing your modeling skills in Maya.

Method:

Use the Pluralsight videos to master the proper steps in modeling a basic low-poly building. This will be an exercise in developing and adding onto the skills that you attained in the last tutorial. We will also begin discussing modeling in this tutorial.

Introduction into 3D Modeling Using Blender

Objective

The student will learn the basics of 3D modeling using common tools like extrude, loop cut and slide. In addition the student will become knowledgeable about polygon geometry, create modeling hierarchies, smoothing and subdivision workflow. 

Method

The student will use a project-based approach to create a 3D robot using the Blender software application. This project will cover the basics of modeling, look at commonly used tools, and talk about some time-saving tips and techniques in Blender. We’ll begin by looking at polygon geometry and learn about its different components. You’ll learn how to organize your model into hierarchies and keep your scene clean and efficient. We’ll also take a look at multiple modeling tools, including Extrude and the Loop Cut and Slide for adding resolution, Inset, and Bevel. We’ll take a look at using a smoothing or subdivision workflow and use modifiers to help shape our models and work symmetrically.
